Local Transportation
There are six subway lines in Buenos Aires. Tickets can be purchased at all stations. Our apartments are located 4 blocks from Independencia Station, line C. The subway or subte, as it is called, is the fastest way to move around in the city. The subway fare is 1.10 pesos. Buenos Aires Subway Map.
There are 140 bus lines operating throughout the city. There is a minimum fare and each bus is equipped with an electronic ticket vending machine, which only accepts coins. The bus fare is 1.10, 1.20 or 1.25 pesos. Buses operate 24 hours a day. There are plenty of buses’ stops near the apartment, including the 60, one of the most used line in Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires is plenty of taxis which charge reasonable fares. The meter shows the price in pesos.
Buses, Trains (some lines) and Subway Fares can now be paid with a rechargeable card called SUBE. The card is free but you will need some form of identification to get one. These cards can be recharged in subway stations. For more information, visit SUBE.
